Assin South MP demands full-scale inquiry and accountability over alleged narcotics trafficking failures
Ghana could slide into becoming a “cocaine coast” unless authorities act decisively on the rising number of major narcotics consignments reportedly tied to the country, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour has warned.
The Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence Committee issued the stark warning in a social media post, describing what he called an unprecedented drug trafficking crisis that threatens Ghana’s standing on the international stage.
The Assin South MP raised pointed questions about the government’s role, asking whether it was “directly facilitating” the transit of narcotics or benefiting from the trade, given what he described as a failure to take decisive action against those responsible.
He further questioned why no government official had been dismissed over the alleged failures.
Rev. Ntim Fordjour is calling for an immediate, full-scale inquiry involving the Interior Ministry, Transport Ministry, Narcotics Control Commission, Ghana Immigration Service and the BNI, insisting that the country’s international image must be safeguarded.
