Barima Saasi Ayeboafo II, the Mampontenhene, born Yaw Aboagye Poku and popularly known as Yapo, was enstooled about nine years ago. He is the son of the late Poku Transport.
Today, several serious matters were brought before the Kumasi Traditional Council, with some of the allegations attracting strong condemnation from Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene.
One of the most serious matters concerned the alleged involvement of the Mampontenhene with a woman, Maame Sarah, in connection with the death of the late Mampontenghemaa(Nana Kyerew Akenten II) who died a year ago.Otumfuo, in addressing the matter, condemned his actions and stated:
“You are bringing trouble to yourself. Do you know what you are doing? Be careful. You indeed connived with the woman.”
Another major issue concerned the Oyoko Dikro Stool in the Bosomtwe District, where the Mampontenhene was accused of acting contrary to Otumfuo’s authority and oath in relation to the enstoolment of a chief.

In relation to the Oyoko Dikro Stool, the Mampontenhene was fined four rams.
Two other matters brought before the council concerned questions surrounding his royal status.
The proceedings also highlighted an interesting family relationship. The Mampontenhene and Baffour Bantamahene are brothers through the same mother but have different fathers. Baffour Bantamahene was therefore tasked to speak with his brother.
The case, however, is not yet concluded. Proceedings will continue after Otumfuo returns from his trip.
